Modi government’s announcement to use
Hindi as the sole medium of communication for government information on social
media was just an initial attempt to test the waters. Amid wide-spread
opposition, the Union Home Ministry immediately withdrew the announcement and
said it did not seek to impose Hindi on states which do not speak this
language. But even after its withdrawal, there were reports, especially from
the southern states, that warning memos were issued to central government staff
who did not attend the Hindi coaching classes. In continuation of this, the
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a directive to its
affiliated schools and letters to the state boards urging them to promote
the celebration of Sanskrit Week from August 7 to 13.
The circular,
filled with utter lies and brahmanical fraudulence, is audacious-enough to
proclaim that Sanskrit is “the mother of all languages”; it doesn’t stop there
– it also claims that “Sanskrit and Indian culture are intertwined”, and goes
on to say that most of the indigenous knowledge (!?) is available in this
language. The circular also directs to increase awareness about ‘close
relationship’ between Sanskrit and other languages and cultural heritage of
India.
Inviting eminent
Sanskrit scholars for interacting with students for promoting daily use of
Sanskrit, encouraging students to develop Apps and Games for Sanskrit learning,
screening of a Sanskrit films such as ‘Adi Shankaracharya’, ‘Bhagvad Gita-the
song of the Lord’, ‘Mudrarakshasa ‘etc. are some of the ways by which Modi
government has asked schools to celebrate Sanskrit week. Just by looking at
the circular, we can easily understand Modi government’s attempt to impose
religion in the name of language.
When the circular
says that ‘Sanskrit and Indian culture are intertwined’ it clearly refers to
the brahminical-Hindu culture – because literatures of none of the other
religions including Jainism and Buddhism are in Sanskrit. Moreover, screening
of films about Adi Shankara, Bhagwad Gita, and Sanskrit slogan contests etc are
obvious acts of religion imposition. By asking schools to increase awareness
about ‘close relationship’ between Sanskrit and other languages, Modi
government is trying to establish and strengthen the deceptive claim that
Sanskrit is the ‘mother of all languages’.
But, never in
history has Sanskrit been an official language of communication either of the
governments (kingdoms) or of the people. Religious literatures of anti-Vedic
religions such as Buddhism and Jainism are in Pali language; Ashoka’s
inscriptions are also in Pali. Many researchers have established that Sanskrit
is not an original language – but a mixture of many foreign languages.
Researchers have also proved that languages such as Greek, German, and Gothic
are sounding similar to Sanskrit.
We don’t deny the
fact that Sanskrit is one of the oldest languages. Not only Vedas, Puranas and
Itihas are available in Sanskrit – but a number of anti-Vedic, atheist and
anti-idealistic literature are also available in Sanskrit. Only by learning
such materials, was Ambedkar able to expose the tyranny of Hindu-brahminism;
researchers like Debi Prasad Chattopadhyay were able to establish beyond doubt
that “Indian philosophical tradition is not just brahminical Hindu tradition –
in fact, most of our philosophies are anti-vedic and anti-idealistic”;
historical researchers like DD Kosambi were able to liberate our history from
the fallacies of the puranas. They were also able to bring out the fact that a
great number of Sanskrit books which had anti-brahmanical ideas were destroyed
en-masse.
Modi is now asking
us to celebrate Sanskrit week; but, it is none other than Modi’s fore-fathers
who paved way for Sanskrit’s destruction. A language can survive and develop
only in the “tongue” and “ears” of the people. Many of the ancient languages
that are surviving to date are able to do so only because they became “Language
of the masses”.
But as brahmanism
denied right to education and right to worship to the working majority of this
country. It proclaimed Sanskrit as ‘deva bhasha’ and banned common people from
learning it. The Brahmins even made stringent laws which were used to severely
punish any person from ‘lower’ castes who dared to learn Sanskrit and read the
Vedas. “if the Sudra intentionally listens for committing to memory the
Veda , then his ears should be filled with (molten) lead; if he utters the
Veda, then his tongue should be cut off.”(Manusmriti). It is not surprising that these fellows, who created Sanskrit, also created
the extremely evil caste system, which has set the Hindus of different castes
and sub-castes at war with one another for ever. Brahmins used Sanskrit as a secret weapon to exert authority over the
people. It also created a theory that the stone idol in the temple would
get divine powers only when Brahmans recite Sanskrit mantras; no other language
has such a power it proclaimed. It is only because this discrimination that
milllions and millions of the working majority are not being allowed inside the
sanctum of the temple thus distancing them from the language itself. Those
Brahmanical forces who destroyed their own language in this way and now are
attempting to spend millions of rupees of people’s money to revive it.
Now Modi’s Government
says it is going to teach Sanskrit to the common people, who have been left out
of the Brahmanical 'tradition of knowledge', and wants to link the language to
their everyday life. In fact, majority Brahmans who recite the Sanskrit mantras
do not know what it means. When those who use the mantras day-in and day-out do
not know its meaning, government’s plan to teach it to common people is
absolutely ridiculous!
Modi government’s imposition of Sanskrit is nothing but
continuation of its attempt to impose Hindu-fascist ideology of
‘Hindu-Hindi-Hindustan’. It is a brahminical cultural aggression to demolish
and destroy the identities of diverse traditions and nationalities. This is
next weapon they have taken in their hand, in line with Ayodhya, common civil
code, imposition of Hindi and Hinduism in text books. Hindu fascism is
doing everything to spread its roots.
What are we waiting for?
